This fungus had a yellowish-brown, bulbous stem base, which then tapered at both ends into a cream colour.
The cap was dark reddish-brown, and the pores were cream and bruised blue.
Someone suggested it might be Gyroporus castaneus, but when I researched it, I found that this species doesn’t have blue-staining gills, whereas I. badia does, hence my current identification.
