Today was very wet, with cool air and a slight breeze.
It got increasingly rainy to the point that I had to abandon the visit part way through.
ENTRANCE AREA
Along the trail to Basecamp, I spotted Coprinus comatus (Fig. 8.0), Coprinopsis atramentaria (Fig. 8.1) and a Phallus impudicus (Fig. 8.3).
The red Russula from week seven was still around.
I found some maturing Stropharia (Fig. 8.4) and saw the Tricholomopsis rutilans on the same mossy log from previous weeks.
BASECAMP AREA
Behind Basecamp, on the path to the railway line, I saw the Stereum hirsutum from previous weeks.
For the first time I noticed Stereum hirsutum in the cracks of the surrounding Oak trees.
THE DELL
Around The Dell there was an abundace of Typhula juncea.
I found quite a variety of of brackets, some Trichia decipiens and some tiny mushroom-like structures that I think could also be a slime mould (Fig. 8.5).
On a few rotting logs, I spotted spiky, hair-like fungi (Fig. 8.6) that could be a Pterula species as it looks similar to the fungi that I found in week seven in the Enclosed Area.
In the leaf litter I found a slug-like form of fungus (Fig. 8.7).
SANDY-GLADE AREA
On the way to the Gnarly Oak, I saw a maturing Phallus impudicus (Fig. 8.8).
ENCLOSED AREA
In the Enclosed Area I found the Clavulina coralloides and Marasmiellus ramealis.
It was here that I decided to abandon the survey because of the heavy rain.
