On the upturned cut logs in The Dell I spotted Phleogena faginea — Fenugreek Stalkball.
They grew in distinctive lines along the side of the log.
I was not able to identify this fungi that I saw in The Dell and elsewhere until my father came across a post on Jeremy Barlett’s LET IT GROW Blog.
Some weeks later I returned to the logs and confirmed that they did have a strong “curry” smell.
